The holiday season is all about family, friends, good food and decorations. It’s the time of the year to decorate your home. Celebrate this Christmas with simple and affordable DIY decorations. Here are a few ideas for a joyful Christmas.

#1 Bottle cap snowman ornaments

Paint the inside of each bottle cap white. Glue three bottlecaps to a piece of ribbon.  You’ll also want to put a bit of glue in between each bottlecap to hold them together.  Form a loop with the top of the ribbon and glue in place.  Use the end of a paintbrush or a toothpick to paint eyes, a nose, mouth and buttons on your snowmen.  Tie a ribbon or yarn between the first and second bottle caps to make a scarf and accent with a button if you like.

#2 Felt and Pine Cone Elves

Gather the materials and cut all the felt pieces using pattern. Blanket stitch the triangles into cones and sew a mini bell on top. Glue feet on bottom of cones. Glue hats on wooden balls and draw for eyes and mouth. Glue heads onto cones, tie scarf and glue into place.

#3 Snowman donut snack

Individual packs of mini powdered donuts, Black construction paper, Black & orange sharpie, Ribbon, glue scissors. To begin, you’ll draw out the shapes of your snowmen hats onto your black construction paper and then cut them out. Take your low-temperature glue gun and glue the hat to the top, then tie your Christmas ribbon around the donuts for the scarf. Then take your orange and black marker to add in the buttons and face.

#4 Sock Snowman

All you need is 1 white sock, rice, 1 colored sock, rubber bands, glue, and markers. Start by filling your white sock with rice. Once you are happy with the amount of your sock snowman tie the top with the rubber band. Take another rubber band and place in the middle – more to the upper side – of the rice filled sock to form the head shape. Now glue the buttons to the bottom side by using a glue gun. Draw the mouth and eyes with a black marker or with black paint. Add a ribbon for the scarf. You can cut off excess white sock .Cut the colored sock. Roll it a bit and place it on the head of your snowman. This sock snowman is ready to rock.

#5 Jeweled Ornaments

All you need is colored ball ornaments in different colors. Self-adhesive jewels which you stick into balls.

#6 Cinnamon Candle Sticks

All you need are cinnamon sticks, candles, a rubber band, and some ribbon/twine. Place your rubber band around your candle and then place your sticks under the rubber band. To add interest, I varied the height and also varied whether the line on the cinnamon sticks faced outwards or toward the candle. Once the entire candle is covered in sticks, wrap twine or ribbon around the rubber band in order to conceal it. Accessorize however you want and you’re done!

#7 Retro Christmas Yarn Wreath

You need straw wreath form, one skein each of red yarn and white yarn, green, white and red felt for felt flowers, retro or vintage plastic santa and reindeer, vintage putz house,glue

The first thing you do is wrap your wreath. Tie one end of red yarn onto your form. Wrap the red around the form several times until you have wrapped about an inch and a half wide. Snip the yarn leaving a few inches for a tail. Tie the white yarn to the tail of the red yarn and wrap the white yarn around the form until you have about an inch and a half. Next you will need to make your felt flowers. Glue your putz house down in the bottom of the inside of the wreath. Next, glue your santa and reindeer. Then, lay out your flowers and when you have an arrangement you are happy with, glue the flowers down.
